The School of Mediterranean Music invites you to learn and practice singing with the EMM's oriental music choir. This choir was founded following numerous requests from amateurs and professionals passionate about oriental singing in France, and who were looking for an academic and musical framework to learn the Arabic vocal repertoire. Discover the richness of Arabic music and its forms, sing in tune, interpret the different styles and vocal genres, these are the main objectives of this choir.

Since its creation in 2010, the oriental choir section, made up of about fifteen choristers (men and women), participate each year in the public hearings of the School of Mediterranean Music in Paris. They presented six concerts, including one at INALCO and three at the Institut du monde arabe in Paris.

This oriental choir is open to all levels, subject to the acceptance of the choir leader. The choir lessons start in October and run until the end of June. Each year we offer a new rich program including deswaslât (vocal suites) des muwashahat_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_du malouf (repertoire of Arab-Andalusian music), contemporary songs and masterpieces by the great singers and performers of the Arab world as : Um-kalthoum, Abdel Wahâb, Farid al-Atrash, Fairouz and others. Our choice of works in the program follows a pedagogical, modal and rhythmic progression. We want to gradually introduce choristers to the richness of the traditional and contemporary Arabic vocal repertoire.
